Health And Human Performance Classrooms

The Falcon Center for Health, Education, and Wellness is home to the Health and Human Performance Department (HHP). HHP has undergraduate majors in Health and Physical Education and in Exercise and Sport Science, a graduate program in Clinical Exercise Physiology, along with undergraduate minors in Athletic Coaching, Adapted Physical Education, Health Education, Outdoor Education, and pre-graduate minors for careers such as physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, and athletic training. Located in the southern hallway of the Falcon Center between Page Arena and the Fitness Center, there are three traditional classrooms, an active learning classroom, and an exercise physiology lab. All classrooms have a flexible room configuration and are used for classes by Health and Human Performance. Additionally, Campus Recreation and Falcon Athletics use these rooms for meetings, group sessions, etc. These are also available for reservation by UWRF recognized student organizations and the public. The Dr. Keith Wurtz Active Learning Lab is named for Keith Wurtz, who was named UWRF Distinguished Alumnus in 1980. He then endowed the Keith Wurtz Award for Teaching Excellence at UWRF. The Active Learning Lab includes state-of-the-art technology for a variety of presentation styles, along with seven 62-inch television monitors and learning stations allowing for individual and/or group work. The Health and Human Performance lab is named for Dr. Gary A. Thibodeau who served as the 12th chancellor of UW-River Falls from 1985-2000. To prepare students for a career in the exercise industry, the performance lab includes the latest in exercise testing equipment.
