BFA candidates show their work

February 19, 2020 – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Spring 2020 BFA graduating class will present their work March 2-April 3 in an exhibition in Gallery 101 in Kleinpell Fine Arts. On display will be ceramics, sculptures, glass, paintings, drawings, illustration, and graphic design.

Katelyn Herron, of Rocky Point, N.Y., is pursuing degrees in art education K-12 and in glass and ceramics. Her art addresses gender roles, women’s suffrage, and the industrialization/exploitation of the female reproductive system.

Olivia Hines, of St. Paul Park, Minn., has an emphasis in graphic design. Her work uses a blend of color theory, typography and form to create beautifully rendered designs and illustrative work on 12 reimagined vinyl record covers.

Heather Kennedy, of Mahtomedi, Minn., has an emphasis in ceramics and glass with a business minor. The ceramic work she is showing is centered around gatherings and community.

Emma Kiecker, of Red Wing, Minn., has an emphasis in graphic design. She is showing rebranding design work from Cakeability, a hometown bakery.

Olivia Lambert, of River Falls, has an emphasis in drawing and painting. Raised in Budapest, Hungary, to an American father and Hungarian mother, Lambert’s work is heavily influenced by her bicultural upbringing. Her subject matter is a mix of plants and animals rendered in a decorative light.

Kierra Maillette, of Chicago, has an emphasis in painting and drawing. She depicts paintings of scenes from the places she has lived and traveled to around the world.

Caitlin Wiberg, of Woodbury, Minn., has an emphasis in graphic design and painting. Her style explores repetition, modernism, and a vivid color pallet. She takes inspiration from her life to form clever ideas and methods for producing unique designs.

An exhibition reception will be held in Gallery 101 on Friday, March 6, from 5-8 p.m. The reception and exhibition are both free and open to the public.

Regular gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 2–7 p.m., and Friday from 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
