Dance Theatre to present annual spring concert

February 20, 2020 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Dance Theatre will present their annual spring concert March 4-7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Blanche Davis Theatre in Kleinpell Fine Arts.

The concert will feature the works of 34 UWRF Dance Theatre alumni, current students, faculty, and professionals in diverse dance forms from jazz, modern, and theatrical comedy to contemporary.

  • Visiting Winona State University Professor Danielle Ricci has restaged her theatrical comedy work “My Valentine” which follows a story of love-sick teenagers from the 50s.
  • Minneapolis choreographer Erinn Liebhard set a new work called “Right Place” that explores feeling both in and out of place, as well as the jazz sensibilities expressed in the music.
  • “Power of You,” choreographed by Dance Theatre alumna Rana Kuebker, provides insight into the powerful influences that narcissistic people can hold over others in relationships. Duluth News Tribune called the piece, “…passionate and fierce, yet as if in slow motion.”
  • Faculty choreographer Mari Kline-Kluck created “Unauthorized Arrivals” which sheds light on the atrocities caused by current immigration policies in the United States and their effects on many thousands of lives.
  • Alumnus choreographer Marcus Dryer crafted a hilarious scenario where space adventurers from the Star Trek universe encounter an alien on a new planet sure to leave every audience member laughing.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (60+), and $5 for students and children.  Tickets can be purchased at the University Theatre Box Office in Kleinpell Fine Arts beginning Feb. 26 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (Monday-Friday) and at 6:30 p.m. on performance nights; by calling 715-425-3114; or online at http://marketplace.uwrf.edu.

UWRF Dance Theatre, a modern dance company, has brought an artistic dance program to students who love dance for more than 35 years.
