New and Transfer Student Room Sign Up

The Room Sign Up process is split into three phases for new and incoming transfer students, outlined below. Important messages about completing all phases will be communicated through your @my.uwrf.edu email account.

Housing & Dining Portal

Step 1: Sign Contract (Open now)

Log into the Housing Portal to
- sign your 2024-25 housing and dining contract;
- submit $135 contract payment;
- select a meal plan and;
- complete emergency contact and vaccine information.

Step 2: Preferences (Open now)

Log into the Housing Portal to:
- Roommate: complete your personal profile, search for potential roommates, then mutually accept your roommate if you find a match. View roommate step-by-step instructions here. See the timeline below for open dates and deadline.
- Communities: learn about and indicate any Themed Community preferences in the Portal. Roommates who accept each other in the Portal should specify preferences for the same communities, in the same order of preference;

Step 3: Select a Room (Opens June, 2024)

When Room Selection opens:
- Select your hall and room in the Housing Portal. See the timeline below.
When Room Swap opens:
- After choosing a room in the Housing Portal, if you change your mind about where you want to live or your roommate preference, you may Room Swap to a different room or hall at any time while Room Swap is open in the Portal. See the timeline below.
FAQ: Can I have a single room without a roommate?
- No, there will not be an option for incoming students to receive a single room for the 2024-25 year. If you end up in a room without a roommate, then a roommate will be assigned to you. After the Fall 2024 semester begins, if there are a few empty rooms available, then there will be a single room lottery.

- View Hall and Wing Configurations, like gender of wings, bathroom configuration, carpeting, etc...
- View residence hall pages and explore room design and amenities.
- Use your Falcon Account login to access hall floor plans.

Hall and Wing Configurations

~~Deadline: May 10~~ Fri, May 17 - Wed, May 29, Noon	The Deadline to accept a roommate in the Housing Portal is Wednesday, May 29, Noon. Due to a delay in Financial Aid processing for the 2024-25 year, this deadline is an extension of the original roommate selection deadline of May 10. Accept a Roommate step-by-step instructions >> If you haven't accepted a roommate by the deadline, then you can still get a room with a preferred roommate during Room Selection or Room Swap by choosing the same room together.
Wed, June 5, Noon	Early Bird Housing Contract Deadline (June 5, Noon): Incoming first year and transfer students who have a signed housing and meal plan contract by Wednesday, June 5, noon will be sent an email on June 6 with details about the earliest date and time that they may sign up for a room during the Room Selection start dates of June 11 & 12. *This assigned date and time is determined by when the student signed their housing contract.
Tue, June 11 - Wed, June 12, 5-8pm Nightly	Early Bird Room Selection for incoming first year and transfer students starts between 5-8 p.m. each afternoon/evening in the Housing Portal. Only for students who signed their housing contracts by the Early Bird deadline of June 5, noon may choose their room on these dates. Room Selection Step-by-step Instructions >> *(Coming)*
Thurs, June 13 - Wed, July 17	Room selection available for any incoming new and transfer students in the Housing Portal, including those who signed housing contracts after June 6, noon. Room Selection Step-by-step Instructions >> *(Coming)*
Tues, June 18, 8am - Wed, July 17, Noon	Room swap available for all incoming new and transfer students in the Housing Portal, for students seeking to change their hall, room and/or roommate. Room Swap Step-by-step Instructions >> *(Coming)*
Tue, July 23, 8am - Wed, July 31, Noon	Room Selection and Room Swap for ALL Students, including incoming and returing UWRF students. *Only for students who don't have a room yet:* Room Selection Step-by-step Instructions >> Only for students who already have a room: Room Swap Step-by-step Instructions >> *(Coming)*
Thu, Aug 1 - Wed, Aug 28	For students who have a signed contract to live on campus but have not yet chosen a room, the Residence Life Office will be hand-assigning those students to a room with a roommate of similar age and year in school, then will email those students with details - to their UWRF email account.
Thu, Aug 29	Hall Move In begins for incoming first year and transfer students on Thursday, August 29. Welcome activities and meal plans begin as well. Friday, Aug 30 move in begins for returning UWRF students.

Parker Hall: First year freshmen students only
South Fork Suites: Student graduated in 2022 or earlier, or are 21+ years old
