Returning to College

If you stepped away from UWRF and are looking to return, we can help you finish your degree. The process is simple but depending on your situation, requirements may vary slightly.

Degree Holders

If you’ve already completed a degree at UWRF and want to come back to take more courses or earn a second degree, submit the UW System Application.

Non-Degree Holders

If you stepped away before completing your degree at UWRF, simply submit the Re-Entry Application. If you’ve taken any classes since your last attendance at UWRF, you’ll also need to send an official transcript from any school you’ve attended.

Other Considerations

See below for additional information regarding Academic Standing and Forgiveness Policies.

If you were academically suspended from UWRF and would like to return, we're here to help you navigate the process. Your academic program can help you appeal that decision and potentially stay at UWRF by setting up a plan and offering assistance as you work toward success in your academic journey.

If you’d like to appeal your suspension, you have two options. Please read carefully to ensure you meet all steps on time.

1) Expedited Option: The benefit of this expedited option is you could be re-entered before your classes are dropped or your 2023-2024 housing assignment is removed. Submit this Appeal Form right away. The deadline to be considered for re-entry without dropping your fall 2023 classes or impacting a Residence Life room assignment is June 9th, 2023. You can indicate on the form if you’d also like to appeal to re-instate your financial aid if you currently receive that.

This process moves quickly! Here's what it looks like:

  1. Submit the Appeal Form by June 9th, 2023. Sooner is better! Your fall 2023 courses will be dropped on June 10th if you haven’t submitted your appeal form.
  2. You’ll receive a meeting invitation in your Navigate App or in your UWRF email that will indicate how to set up an appointment with a representative from your college. Set up that appointment as soon as possible! Students that aren't responsive to the meeting invitation will be denied re-entry. We won't drop your classes or remove your room assignment until your college indicates you aren’t following up on the process or a re-entry denial decision is made.
  3. You may be notified of the re-entry decision at your college appointment. It’s also possible you’ll be referred to an additional review meeting prior to a decision.
  4. Your re-entry final decision will be sent via email at the completion of the process.
  5. If you indicate that you’d like to appeal for re-instatement of your financial aid, our Financial Aid Office will be notified. You should get started on that process immediately. Visit the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy webpage to submit the appeal documents.

2) Prior to the Term Option: If you need some time to decide if you want to appeal your suspension, you can submit the Appeal Form up to the deadline on August 15, 2023. The earlier the better as you’ll have more time to complete next steps!

  1. Submit the Appeal Form prior to August 15th, 2023. Remember, sooner is better!
  2. You’ll receive a meeting invitation in your Navigate App or in your UWRF email that will indicate how to set up an appointment with a representative from your college. Set up that appointment as soon as possible! Students that aren't responsive to the meeting invitation will be denied re-entry.
  3. If you live on-campus, connect with Residence Life about housing, as your room assignment will have been removed and your contract will be cancelled after August 15.
  4. If you indicate that you’d like to appeal for re-instatement of your financial aid, our Financial Aid Office will be notified. You should get started on that process immediately. Visit the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy webpage to submit the appeal documents.

You may apply for Academic Forgiveness at the time of your re-entry if you have not been enrolled at ANY institution of higher learning for at least five continuous years prior to readmission. Through the Academic Forgiveness Policy, UWRF provides an opportunity for the calculation of a new GPA for all subsequent coursework. Once you have applied for re-entry, you will submit your completed Academic Forgiveness application to the dean of the college for your major.
