The mission of Counseling Services is to provide professional mental health counseling and consultation services to the campus community. College can be a unique transition and students may face a wide range of emotions and experiences. Be it for stress, anxiety or a host of other concerns, as a Falcon, you’ll have access to on-campus services, referrals to off-campus professionals and special programming all designed to help provide the best care for you.
Counseling Services incorporates a brief therapeutic model with an emphasis on developmental counseling directed at helping you succeed in the university environment. When more specialized, intensive and/or longer-term services are needed, we can assist in making referrals to off-campus professionals. Common problems that college students might encounter include:
- Family Concerns
- Sexual Assault
- Major/Career Concerns
- Body Image
- Grades/Academic Concerns
Counseling Services employs professional counselors who are available to help students work through a wide variety of issues they might face during their college experience. Our services include:
- Confidential personal counseling
- Workshops and presentations to classes and groups
- Consultation with faculty and staff
- Group counseling opportunities
- Referral for medication evaluation and management with a psychiatrist or family practice physician
Located in Rodli Hall, the campus Meditation Room serves as a designated quiet space for reflection, meditation and relaxation. Science shows that there are significant mental, physiological and cognitive benefits to meditation. This space allows Falcons to experience a place of peace and sanctuary while learning and working on campus.
